Privacy Policy

Wardrobe Words is operated by Erik Nylander in Sweden ("Wardrobe Words," "we," "us," or "our"). Wardrobe Words is an iOS app that helps people identify garments from images, find useful search terms for second-hand marketplaces, and create clothing-listing information.

This policy explains what information we process, why we process it, who provides the services we use, and your privacy choices. For questions or privacy requests, contact [email protected].

1. Information we process

Depending on the features you choose, the information we process may include:

You do not need to supply your name, email address or password to use the app's anonymous authentication. However, images can contain personal information if a face or other identifying detail is visible.

2. Image processing

When you request a Find or Sell analysis, Wardrobe Words processes your selected images to identify clothing, colors, materials, garment types, design details or other characteristics relevant to the feature. Images may be cropped, resized or compressed before transmission.

Submitted images and related instructions are transmitted to our backend and to the AI provider described below. We do not intentionally maintain a permanent server-side archive of uploaded images. Images are processed to fulfill requests, although providers may retain data temporarily under their own service and security policies. Images and results can separately be saved on your device through app features.

Please avoid submitting images or information you do not wish to share for AI processing.

3. AI processing — OpenAI

Wardrobe Words uses the OpenAI API for AI-powered image and text analysis. Depending on the feature, we may send selected images, cropped image regions, relevant instructions, fashion context, previous results within the workflow, and language or marketplace settings through our backend to OpenAI.

OpenAI states that API inputs and outputs are not used to train its models by default, unless the API customer opts in. OpenAI may process and retain information for service provision, security and abuse monitoring in accordance with its applicable policies. Standard abuse-monitoring retention may be up to 30 days, subject to applicable exceptions and account settings.

We do not use your uploaded images or generated clothing content for third-party advertising.

4. Anonymous authentication — Supabase

Wardrobe Words uses Supabase for anonymous authentication. When the app starts, it may create or restore a session with a unique user identifier and authentication credentials. No email address or password is required for this process.

The term "anonymous" means the app does not ask you to identify yourself by name or email during sign-in. It does not mean that identifiers and related technical information are necessarily anonymous personal data under privacy law. Supabase processes session and authentication information to provide this functionality.

5. Limited usage analytics — Supabase

We use Supabase for limited first-party product analytics. The analytics currently implemented in the iOS app include an event when a loading screen is dismissed. That event may record the feature mode (Find or Sell), elapsed time, a generated session UUID, app version and build number.

Our currently implemented analytics event does not intentionally contain uploaded photos, prompts, generated descriptions or marketplace search terms. Because analytics are submitted through a Supabase-authenticated session, we do not claim that the records are impossible to associate with an app user.

We use this information to understand app performance and improve usability, not for third-party targeted advertising.

6. How we use information

We use information to deliver the features you request; generate searches and listing information; support saved results and preferences; create anonymous sessions; manage free access and subscriptions; troubleshoot and secure the service; understand limited app-performance events; respond to support requests; and comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell personal information or use uploaded clothing images for advertising-network targeting.

7. Subscriptions — Apple and RevenueCat

Wardrobe Words offers in-app subscriptions through Apple StoreKit and uses RevenueCat to manage subscription status, entitlements and purchase restoration. Apple handles payment transactions; we do not receive your full payment-card details.

RevenueCat may generate an anonymous App User ID and process purchase and transaction identifiers, subscription products, receipts, entitlement information, purchase dates and technical app/device information necessary for subscriptions. These records are separate from the clothing-photo analysis performed through OpenAI.

8. Hosting — Google Cloud

Our backend is hosted on Google Cloud. Google Cloud processes information necessary to receive and run backend requests, provide infrastructure, monitor reliability and protect the service. Such information may include IP addresses, request metadata, timestamps, statuses and technical diagnostics.

Backend hosting on Google Cloud does not mean that the current production AI analysis uses the Google Gemini API; our production configuration uses OpenAI.

9. Technical logs and errors

Routine backend logs are designed to focus on technical metrics, such as operation type, durations, image count, request size, prompt length, result counts, service identifiers, status codes and retries. They are not designed to record full uploaded images, complete AI prompts or generated clothing descriptions as routine entries.

Error logs can include error messages or additional diagnostic details, which in some circumstances may contain information related to a request. We therefore do not claim that every log is free of personal data.

The Google Cloud Logging _Default bucket is configured for seven-day retention. This does not necessarily cover all infrastructure logs, other log buckets, exports, provider security records or information independently retained by third parties.

10. Information stored on your device

Wardrobe Words may store preferences, saved searches, History, Favorites, Collections, generated descriptions, associated images and free-use settings locally on your device, depending on the available features and your actions.

Local information may remain until you remove it through an available feature, uninstall the app, or iOS removes it. Device backups and operating-system behavior may affect retention. Local storage is distinct from content processed by online providers.

11. Sharing images from other apps

An iOS Share Extension may let you send an image from another app to Wardrobe Words. The image can pass through a shared iOS App Group container so the main app can access it. Temporary import files are intended to support transfer and may be removed during normal cleanup. They can remain temporarily if an import is interrupted or cleanup does not finish.

12. Third-party marketplaces

When you choose to open an external second-hand marketplace, relevant search terms may be added to a URL or otherwise shared with that marketplace to perform the requested search. The destination platform may then collect and process information under its own privacy policy. We do not control third-party marketplaces.

We aim to retain personal data no longer than needed for the purposes described, subject to lawful exceptions.

16. Privacy rights and choices

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection or portability of your personal data; withdraw consent where relevant; or complain to a competent data protection authority.

You can manage camera and photo permissions through iOS Settings and remove eligible saved content through available app controls. Uninstalling the app generally removes its app-container data, subject to backups and iOS behavior, but does not automatically erase records held by cloud service providers.

To ask about access or deletion of information associated with an anonymous identity, email [email protected]. We may need information sufficient to locate the relevant anonymous records and reasonably verify that the request relates to you. Requests are handled in accordance with applicable law.

17. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including encrypted connections to the backend and relevant providers, and logging practices intended to reduce unnecessary exposure of submitted content. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.

Wardrobe Words is operated from Sweden, but service providers may process data in other countries, including outside the European Economic Area. Where required, such transfers rely on appropriate legal mechanisms and safeguards, which may include adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses.

19. Children's privacy

Wardrobe Words is a general-purpose fashion and second-hand shopping app and is not specifically directed at children. We do not knowingly use children's information for targeted advertising. If you believe a child's information has been processed in circumstances requiring additional protection, contact us so we can review the situation.

20. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when app features, processing activities, providers or legal requirements change. The latest version will be available at wardrobewords.app/privacy/ with the update date shown above. Where legally required, we will give additional notice or obtain consent for material changes.
